Grading Standards
A majority of Coastline
Comics’ sales are of CGC and CGG (now PGX) graded items that have been independently
graded and encapsulated by a qualified 3rd party.
Because of this, very seldom do we have any grading problems.
To view the detailed grading standards used by these 3rd party
companies, please visit CGC here
and CGG/PGX here and
read their grading standards in detail.
However, in the rare instance that you
may feel your comic was not properly graded please contact us
immediately at casey@coastlinecomics.com
or by phone at (858) 774-0587(Monday thru Friday
8am-5pm PST
) and report the problem. At
that time we will gladly work out a solution that will fairly meet both
our needs. Please note,
though, that unauthorized returns could and will be returned to the
sender at his own expense.
When Coastline Comics does sell ungraded comic items online, we do so
using the following detailed Overstreet Comic Book Grading Standards:
MINT
(MT) CONDITION (Overstreet 100-98):
Near perfect in every way. Only the most subtle bindery or printing
defects are allowed. Cover is flat with no surface wear. Cover inks are
bright with high reflectivity and minimal fading. Corners are cut square
and sharp. Staples are generally centered and clean with no rust. Cover
is generally centered and firmly secured to interior pages. Paper is
supple and fresh. Spine it tight and flat.

FINE
(FN) CONDITION (Overstreet 74-55):
An exceptional, above average copy that show minor wear but still is
relatively flat, clean and glossy with no subscription crease or brown

standards...
- FN
- Browning of Paper: Very slight browning is acceptable, but there

distracting (ugly), they drop their grade to Very Good.
- FN
- Off-Center Printing: Slight deviance is acceptable.

- FN
- Spine Stress Marks: Minor noticeable stress marks allowed.
- FN
- Staples: May be a bit loose, but must be clean, centered with no
